In fact, the original Buy American Act originated in 1933, requiring federal agencies to purchase “domestic end products” and use “domestic construction materials.” This act has been amended multiple times over the past 90 years or so, including revisions in the late 1970s and the Build America, Buy America (BABA) Act introduced in 2021 (and taking effect in 2022). The North Dakota Department of Commerce has a new grant opportunity for North Dakota businesses that make improvements to their facilities aimed at slowing the spread of COVID-19. Developed to improve customer confidence in the marketplace, the Economic Resiliency Grant will award up to $50,000 per eligible business and up to $100,000 for those with multiple locations. Eligible expenses must be direct investments to reduce the spread of infection, such as improvements that create a distance between customers and employees.
